            It is typical to see highly promoted products claiming to contain the best ingredients.  Whether you are a doctor or an over-the-counter consumer, the dilemma is the same—how to decide which is the best product to buy.

            Usually, in order to get our money’s worth, we look at the label to see which product has the best ingredients and number of tablets.  Rarely, however, do we ask the most important question of all: how much of the product will be absorbed into our cells?

            The difference between advertising, promotion, and actual effectiveness is often substantial.  A product may look very good on paper, but it may not actually be performing as we expected it would.

            Again, this should not be surprising, when we discover that up to 85% to 90% of most ingredients may not be absorbed at all, as you can see from the chart below.  Based on the highly respected Physicians Desk Reference Manual (53rd Edition, p. 1666), the differences in absorption vary tremendously in the delivery systems represented.  As noted in the absorption rate of pills, there may not be any at all.
